Rob always is challenging my brain, allowing space for me to be a human and explore my emotions and be vulnerable. But at the same time have a lot of fun!
— S.G., student

Private Lessons: Music

Rob offers private lessons on: violin, viola, mandolin, guitar, bass, voice, percussion, electronic instruments, and more.

Students learn instrumental technique, music theory, improvisation, groove (and groove-based music and repertoire: jazz, blues, rock, bluegrass, and more). Other topics include electronic and electroacoustic music (want to learn how to use pedals with your violin? Live looping techniques? Etc.), plus composition, songwriting, and audio production.

Rob is a published author on the myths and misconceptions of “talent,” and he strongly believes that anyone can learn to express themselves with a musical instrument. Whatever your experience or skill level, Rob will help you chart a course and achieve your goals!

Chess with Rob is a blast! My kids are learning so much and look forward to an hour of focused fun! Through chess, they practice focus, reflection, and strategy, and with Rob, they experience that study, critical thinking, and problem-solving can be enjoyable and exciting!

I loved listening to him and seeing the kids react to the music. Thank you for providing the most wonderful break to my day. I hope he comes back again and again!
